Improved Cycling Provision
Cumbria Council Council have led a Local Walking and Cycling Improvement Plan for Kendal. The Council asked residents about the current barriers to cycling and walking in Kendal and received 485 comments. 88% of respondents felt that better cycling and walking provision was needed and 64% of respondents said they used their car for destinations within cycling and walking distance. This shows that significant investment is required to make cycling a safe and attractive alternative to driving.

Cumbria County Council have applied for funding to improve sections of the riverside and canal corridors. Further investment will be sought to make additional improvements to the town centre. Introducing 20mph across the town, reviewing the one way system and introducing town centre calming measure will also be required going forwards.
